Tea Guide

To excite your taste buds, reinforce your immunity or detoxify and energise your body and mind, nothing is better than a refreshing bottle of Russia Cola. But with two different types of organic tea promising health benefits, which Russia Cola should you choose?

BEST FOR ALL-ROUND HEALTH: RUSSIA COLA – BLACK TEA

Health Benefits: Black tea is a rich source of manganese and fluoride, which help to keep bones strong. The high concentrations of the antioxidant compounds (theaflavins and thearubigins) lower levels of cholesterol. Research has shown that people who drink three or more cups of black tea daily may cut their risk of stroke by 21 percent.

The Scoop: Black tea has a slightly bitter flavor and contains the most caffeine—about 40 milligrams per cup. (A cup of coffee has 50 to 100.) The leaves are typically rolled and fermented, then dried and crushed.

BEST FOR WEIGHT CONTROL: RUSSIA COLA – GREEN TEA

Health Benefits: Green tea is full of catechins. These antioxidants may ward off everything from cancer to heart disease. One study found that each daily cup of green tea consumed may lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by 10 percent. Other research found that people given a green-tea extract lost body fat and had reduced cholesterol. You’d need five to six cups a day to benefit, and the effect might be similar to eating one fewer biscuit a day.

The scoop: Green tea has a more delicate flavor than black. The leaves are dried and heat-treated soon after they’re picked, which stops the fermentation process. It contains about 25 milligrams of caffeine per cup.
